Our firms are becoming more engaged and entwined in social media for the promotion of firm, community, and client activities (when appropriate). What can you do when attorneys or staff are posting what appears to go over the line? Heather Van Meter, a partner in the Employment and Labor team at Miller Nash, will provide guidance around employers’ rights and remedies as it relates to negative personnel postings in social media.

Heather Van Meter (Heather) has over 25 years of experience in a wide variety of areas assisting private, public, and not-for-profit clients, most recently joining Miller Nash’s extensive employment and labor team. In addition to her legal work, Heather also has continued her studies and teaches regularly, starting by teaching legal courses in Vietnam, returning and teaching at Lewis & Clark Law School, obtaining a master’s degree in human rights law, and a PhD. in international law. She continues to teach graduate school classes as well as finance classes for middle and high school students.

Heather has spent time serving her community and most recently serves on the Oregon State Bar Nonprofit Law Executive Committee. Heather spends time with her family and has recently written and published a book for tweens!
